Donal Sheehan of BRIDE Project is a Dairy Hero

Co Cork dairy farmer Donal Sheehan and his local school are among the National Dairy Council’s Dairy Hero competition winners.
The NDC invited schools to enter the competition, nominating and interviewing their heroes. Prizes for the winning schools include a class trip to the National Sports Campus and a €1,000 sports equipment voucher.
The senior category winner is the Castlelyons National School, Co Cork, after nominating local farmer Donal Sheehan, who is one of the main drivers of the innovative BRIDE (Biodiversity Regeneration In a Dairying Environment) Project, which rewards farmers for delivering measurable improvements in biodiversity (thebrideproject.ie).
Donal is a 70-cow farmer with a keen interest in creating a more sustainable way of farming.
The Dairy Hero junior category winner is Ardfert National School in Co Kerry, and the special category winner is St Brigid’s School in Co Louth.
