84-acre West Cork farm of mixed quality for sale
A substantial farm has just come on the market in West Cork with Dunmanway-based auctioneers Daniel Lehane & Co.
According to Daniel, this is a good-sized holding of the type that doesn’t present itself too often, and one which has a good deal to offer the discerning farm buyer.
“It’s an attractive farm,” he says, of the holding that’s located in the townland of Shanlara, approximately 8.5km north of Dunmanway on the main Dunmanway-Macroom road, and about 20km south of Macroom.
“There are about 84 acres in total with about 20 acres of it north of the road.
“South of the road, there are approximately 30 acres of good quality farm land, with the remaining acres more suitable for reclamation or forestry.”
According to the selling agents, most of the lands are of sound quality.
They are laid out in permanent pasture in the main, and they have access to what the agents describe as a “decent farmyard facility”.

There is a good quality secondary public road running through the holding, and this means that there is plenty of road frontage, offering a good level of access to the farm.
Furthermore, it means that the farm lends itself to sub-division, and it’s not surprising to learn that the property is being offered in a series of lots.
Lot 1 consists of 20 acres including the farm yard and a series of outbuildings.
Lot 2 comprises the remaining 64 acres of land.
The outbuildings are in quite good condition.
They include a slatted shed (15m x 6m), a lean-to (15m x 6m) and an ancillary shed measuring 15m x 7m.
In addition, there is a covered feed passage of 25m x 6m. There is private water and electricity.
The entire holding represents a good opportunity to purchase land in this part of West Cork and the expected price guide is €550,000 to €600,000.
