Boortmalt purchase welcomed by growers

Growers of malting barley, mainly used for beer and whiskey making, have welcomed a statement from Boortmalt that it intends to purchase the 2019 crop as per contracted requirements.

Fears had arisen that production at the company’s plant in Athy, Co Kildare, would not go ahead this season after a building on the site partially collapsed on July 30, reducing capacity.
