Seandún Macra will have a Rose and an escort in Tralee

Seandún Macra will be represented at this year’s Rose of Tralee International Festival.

Karen Cashman, an active member of Glanmire Macra na Feirme, was selected as the Abu Dhabi Rose earlier this year. Karen has been teaching in the United Arab Emirates for the past year.

Karen entered the selection process after being encouraged by her friends, as she wanted to push her boundaries and was delighted to be selected from 12 contestants.

Meanwhile, Jamie Flannery of Carrigaline Macra had been chosen as a Rose escort.

A native of Dingle, Jamie has thrown himself into experiencing all that Macra has to offer. He represented the Seandún region at the Mr Personality Festival in April and played his part in Carrigaline Macra’s national final drama act. His many talents include being a fluent Irish speaker and Irish dancer.

“Both Karen and Jamie have proven themselves to be proud Macra members who are willing to participate in all areas. We wish them well and hope they have a great experience. We can’t wait to see them in the Dome,” said Seandún Macra PRO Aisling Walsh.

This year (August 23-27), the Rose of Tralee International Festival, Ireland’s most famous family festival, will celebrate its 60th anniversary.
