Barryroe’s seasonal tipple sure to be a hit at the Christmas dinner table
Farmers in a corner of West Cork are looking forward to a Christmas dinner dessert course of Five Farms Single Batch Irish Cream.
This cream liqueur is for sale in Barryroe Co-op’s Eurospar supermarket at €34.95 for 70cl, and is sure to go down a treat, because its cream ingredient is sourced entirely from five local farms.
Laurence Sexton, John Hallissey, and Guy Scott (who make up the three-way LJG Dairy Partnership), Barry O’Mahony, and MichaeColeman, are the farmers whose cream will be put to the test in this new drink, which is said to have an “inviting nose of butterscotch, caramel fondue, and vanilla bean”, and is recommended as an after-dinner drink in place of dessert.
However well it goes down with the locals, it has already won a Chairman’s Trophy for Ireland at the 2018 Ultimate Spirits Challenge, and is being launched with nationwide tastings in the US.
