800 in GLAS face expulsion and clawbacks

Eight-hundred GLAS 3 participants will be thrown out of the agri-environmental scheme and must pay back all GLAS payments made to date unless they submit their overdue Nutrient Management Plans (NMPs) by the end of this month.

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine issued their final warning this week to the participants, who have already missed out on all GLAS payments since March 31, including the GLAS 2018 Advance Payment.

Under the terms and conditions of the GLAS scheme, an NMP must be submitted by GLAS advisors on behalf of all participants, to the online NMP system operated by Teagasc.

But this has not been complied with in over 800 GLAS 3 cases.

Failure to do so by December 31, 2018 will result in rejection from GLAS and claw-back of all GLAS payments made to date, said the Department on Tuesday.

There’s another problem for 200 GLAS 1 and 2 participants.

They have not yet completed the required one-day GLAS training course.

They were also told on Tuesday that failure to complete a training course by December 31, 2018 will result in rejection from GLAS and claw-back of all GLAS payments made to date.

Affected GLAS participants can contact Teagasc at NMPHelpdesk@Teagasc.ie or 0761 111339, or the Department’s GLAS Division at glasnmp@agriculture.gov.ie or 0761 064451.
