Dairymaster’s Mission Control wins big award
Dairymaster’s international success continues with a silver medal award for innovation by the DLG (German Agricultural Society).
It is one of 26 award winners out of 250 product innovations entered for the Innovation Award EuroTier 2018.
The DLG said the Dairymaster Mission Control is a self-learning computer programme which optimises carousel speed in rotary parlours.
Even for experienced milkers, is not easy to get the carousel speed right.
The speed affects the duration of milking.
For example, when a cow has to be treated during milking, it is often necessary to stop the carousel.
That lengthens the milking time further, leaving dairy cows standing longer in the collection area before milking, a proven factor for increasing lameness.
The DLG said OptiCruise System is integrated in the Dairymaster Mission Control.
Based on the milking history of each individual cow recognised, the Mission Control system calculates the milk quantity to be expected, and the remaining milking time of the cows already being milked in the carousel.
By using artificial intelligence and corresponding mathematical models, the system gets carousel speed right.
It is a big feather in the cap of Dairymaster, based in Causeway, Co Kerry, as one of the winners at the EuroTier trade fair, which will get more than 163,000 visitors and 2,600 exhibitors, November 13-16 in Hanover, Germany.
EuroTier is acknowledged as the world’s largest exhibition for livestock producers.
