The 35 Local Development Companies who deliver the LEADER programme have revealed the extent of bureaucratic blockages which left most of them unable to commit monies to a single project, after 10 months of the rural development programme.

The 35 Local Development Companies who deliver the LEADER programme have revealed the extent of bureaucratic blockages which left most of them unable to commit monies to a single project, after 10 months of the rural development programme.

Their representative body, Irish Local Development Network, said, “LEADER has changed from a development programme to an overly-bureaucratic process with unreasonably high barriers for applicants.”
