A steady advance towards BVD eradication has been reported by Animal Health Ireland CEO, Joe O’Flaherty.

End of May figures showed prevalence down to 0.09%, and only 83 herds retaining persistently infected (PI) animals, out of Ireland’s 83,000 breeding herds. One year earlier, some 154 herds had PIs. At the start of compulsory testing in 2013, prevalence was at 0.66%.
