Technology at Ornua’s Riyadh plant is winner
Teagasc has won an award for the new technology it has licensed to Ornua Co-operative Ltd, that enables Ornua to manufacture cheese in countries with a shortage of fresh milk.
This led to Ornua opening a multi-million euro cheese manufacturing plant in Saudi Arabia.
The €20m facility in Riyadh, which will manufacture white cheeses for the Saudi Arabian market, was opened last March.
Teagasc was presented with the Licence2Market category award in the recent Knowledge Transfer Ireland (KTI) Impact Awards, which recognise and celebrate the achievements of knowledge transfer professionals in Irish Higher Education Institutes and publicly-funded research organisations.
