Wilson's hallucinations tell him he will die

Beach Boys star Brian Wilson receives death threats daily - from voices in his own head.

The eccentric rocker, who has suffered from auditory hallucinations for the past two decades, is only left alone from his inner-demons when he's singing or writing.

The 62-year-old says: "The voices say, 'I'm gonna hurt you, I'm gonna kill you,' and I'd say, 'Please don't kill me.'

"I still hear them. I still hear things like, 'I'm gonna kill you,' but I don't have very many of those kind of thoughts, and not while I'm singing or writing, (but) when I'm not singing or writing…

"Three or four hours will go by and then all of a sudden they'll come back in."

Wilson's wife Melinda confirms new medications have helped calm her husband's hallucinations, but she's resigned to the fact she'll always be sharing him with the voices in his head.

She insists his problems are brought on by severe bouts of depression that used to leave Wilson holed up in bed for weeks.

She adds: "They (the episodes) used to last maybe somewhere from a month to a couple of weeks, but, since he's got a new doctor and since he's been taking these new medications, he's much better. He never spends a day in bed."

And Melinda can tell when the voices are disturbing her husband when he's on the road: "Right now, when he goes out on tour, I can look at him and I can tell just by his face he's hearing voices, and yet he continues to do the concert, it's amazing."
