Phil Hogan targets obstacles facing young aspiring farmers

Barriers which hinder young people who want to get into farming are to be tackled by the European Union.

Agriculture and Rural Development Commissioner Phil Hogan told a Brussels workshop that generational renewal is an issue that goes far beyond a reduction in the average age of farmers.

It is also about empowering a new generation of highly-qualified young farmers to bring the full benefits of technology to support sustainable farming practices in Europe, he said.
