The facility employs 44 people, including several working there since 1991.

The plant began with five flavours and now produces 14 varieties of fresh soup.

Eithne O’Hara, head of marketing for Avonmore Food, said: “We’re delighted to celebrate 25 years of our soup plant.

“Avonmore has delivered the taste of homemade soup to Irish homes for 25 years, using the best of ingredients.”

Bord Bia research shows 44% of Irish adults bring their own lunch to work.

Glanbia’s market analysis also shows health, convenience, taste, and freshness are important considerations to Irish consumers’ lunch choices.

“Irish consumers have a strong affinity with fresh soup and seek out products that taste great and convenient to eat,” said Glanbia product development chef, Barry Foley.

“We work closely with local suppliers to ensure the best quality ingredients are used in making our soups here in Kilkenny. We strive to deliver ‘a taste of homemade’ — delicious soups full of nourishing goodness in every spoonful.”
