In fact, this helped them to win prestigious AE50 Awards from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers earlier this year.

The Varioterminal operating interface, the VarioGuide guidance system, and the VarioDoc documentation system, helped to swing the American awards for the German-engineered machines.

All tractor and implement functions in one computer terminal is what the Varioterminal offers, while the VarioGuide provides GPS-guidance with accuracy down to 2cm.

VarioDoc records data such as worked area, fuel consumption, working time.

Other features adopted from Fendt’s higher-powered tractors are the 1000E PTO, LED work lights, and a flange or stub axle.

The VisioPlus cab with its curved front window has been reworked with a 300 degree front wiper for better viewing to the wheel arches and the front loader, even in bad weather. Also new in the cab is an optional electronic immobiliser.

Fendt in-house studies show up to 7% fuel saving thanks to direct power flow from the engine to the 500 Vario’s PTO. Electronically-controlled exhaust gas recirculation and an auxiliary engine oil heat exchanger can reduce AdBlue consumption as much as 50%, compared to the previous model.
