Expressions of interest in projects have been sought from individuals, businesses, farm families, not-for-profit groups, and any other interested parties, as the LEADER rural development funding programme gets under way across Munster.

The end of October is the closing date in many regions for expression of interest forms to be submitted, in order to confirm eligibility of proposed projects and be invited to submit a full application form.

LEADER focuses on improving all aspects of social and economic life in rural areas.

Expressions of interest are sought in areas such as rural tourism, farm diversification, enterprise, renewable energy and research and technical assistance.

Expression of interest are also being sought in Co Kerry from those interested in applying for LEADER funds.

Among the organisations seeking expressions of interest is Clare Local Development Company.

The Waterford LEADER Partnership is due to call for expressions of interest after workshops in November, for prospective applicants for LEADER funding.

North Tipperary LEADER Partnership and South Tipperary Development CLG, on behalf of Tipperary Local Community Development Committee, are seeking expressions of interest.

For Co Cork, the relevant organisations include Avondhu Blackwater Partnership CLG, IRD Duhallow CLG, South East Cork Area Development CLG, and Údarás na Gaeltachta.
