Kilmurry McMahon Guild’s fascinator workshop a big success
Tutor was Ailish McIlroy, who has featured on Xposé and designed prize-winning headgear for fashion meets around the country. An attendee says she was very informative about how to put together a striking headpiece.
“She had a lovely, relaxed demeanour and managed to convince everybody they were capable of creative genius! She brought along the basics for each fascinator. The amazing thing was that no two people produced the same result, although they may have started off with basically the same raw materials.”
Meanwhile, at Cratloe Guild’s October meeting, president Nan Arthur thanked members for baking and helping out at September’s federation gathering.
One of the guild’s newer members, Caroline Quin, gave a demonstration on glass etching — she explained it’s done using a paste on the glass onto which a pattern can be executed.
Siobhán Lee won the evening’s guild competition — ‘My favourite poem’. Members read/recited a poem that appeals to them and explained why they liked it. Siobhán’s poem was about being the mother of boys.
Cratloe ICA has applied for Go for Life funding for 2017. Mass for deceased members will be on November 3 in St John’s Church at 9.30am.
Next September, Cratloe celebrates its 50th anniversary — they’d like to let neighbours and friends know that new members are always welcome.
