Macra news: Limerick prepares to rally the Macra troops
The 2016 Macra na Feirme Annual Conference will be held in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ennis Rd, Limerick, from Friday, October 28, to Monday, October 31.
Booking forms for the rally are now being issued to registered club secretaries.
On Sunday, from 10am to 4pm, Limerick Macra na Feirme representatives will be at the Limerick Show Grounds for the Limerick County Show.
Visitors will have the opportunity to find out about the Know Your Neighbour initiative, see activities, and learn more about Macra.
Fondly known as the Rally, the conference is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the diverse activities Limerick has to offer and for members nationwide to reunite.
Up to 3,000 members are expected to visit Limerick for the Macra Annual Conference, and the dairy and beef farm tours on Saturday morning will each visit two exceptional farms within the county.
This will be followed in the afternoon by the Young Farmers Conference which will explore topics to the fore of the Irish agricultural industry and include presentations from key speakers.
Other weekend events include a themed fancy dress party on Friday night. Competition finals will include the Know Your Ag quiz, Club of the Year, best new member, best emerging club, and beef stockjudging.
A banquet dinner will be held on Sunday night to round off the final night of entertainment.
Music over the weekend will be provided by the renowned Traffic, Jacqui Chan and Fiesta followed by a DJ until late each night.
Limerick Macra last hosted the Rally in 2000 and is proud to have the biggest event of the Macra calendar returning to Limerick in 2016.
Macra na Feirme national president Seán Finan highlighted the strong tradition of Macra na Feirme within Limerick which has had three past presidents in the history of Macra.
