New Cork Declaration expected at conference

EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Phil Hogan has announced that the European Commission is organising a European Conference on Rural Development in Cork on September 5-6, 2016.

New Cork Declaration expected at conference

It will take place exactly 20 years after the 1996 European Conference on Rural Development in Cork, which concluded with the signing of the Cork Declaration on Rural Development,

The 2016 Conference will bring together 250 or so stakeholders to discuss current and future challenges of farming and rural areas, as well as potential policy responses.

Policy makers, NGOs, and members of academia are among those invited.

Members of the general public will also be able to apply to participate, when registration opens in July.

The conference will close with presentation of a new Cork Declaration.
