Alltech buys out Keenan Systems

US-headquartered animal nutrition group Alltech has acquired Keenan Systems, the cattle feed machinery firm in Borris, Co Carlow.

Receivers Kieran Wallace and Cormac O’Connor of KPMG accepted Alltech’s offer of c.€10m for Keenan, which went into receivership earlier this month with debts of around €14m.

“Keenan group has long been a friend of Alltech,” said Dr Pearse Lyons, Irish-born founder and president of Alltech, who said the two companies have identified shared growth opportunities, including nutritional technologies and feeding programmes focused on feed efficiency and herd health.
