Property: Big interest likely in rich farmland holding in Co Cork
The Carbery cheese company is a couple of kilometres north of the townland of Buddrimeen, where an 18-acre holding is for sale.
âItâs very good quality land, laid out in pasture, in a number of fields. It is located about 3km south of Ballineen village,â says John Hodnett, selling agent.
âIt has road frontage on two sides.â
Lot 1 has a farmhouse on six acres. The dwelling is a traditional two-storey type and is, according to the agent, in good condition, despite not having been lived in for about four years.
A porch entrance leads to the hallway, from which there are living room, sitting room, kitchen, and bathroom to the rear.

Upstairs, there are three bedrooms. There are some old outhouses too, including one attached to the dwelling, which could open up the possibility of extending.
Lot 2 is land only, a 12-acre portion of good land, according to the agent. With the upgraded secondary R586 road a short distance away, access to this property is very good and it would thus make for an ideal outside farm.
âThe 12 acres would make an ideal add-on for an existing holding,â says John.
âThe other lot would be an ideal opportunity for someone whoâd be inclined towards hobby farming or market gardening or something like that.â
This, of course, wouldnât preclude someone buying the entire holding and doing something with the house and outbuildings â perhaps letting them to another party.
The guide price is between âŹ275,000 and âŹ300,000. This may seem a strong expectation, but the elements would appear to be there to justify it.
