They join the 75hp to 95hp MF 4700 Series Global tractors, launched last year.
The Global Series is described by MF as a completely new range of modern, straightforward, and versatile tractors. The tractors are designed and built in Massey Ferguson’s Beauvais facility in France.
“Like the MF 4700 Series, which was launched last year, the MF 5700 Series are the only tractors purpose built in the 21st century specifically for this power bracket,” says Campbell Scott, director of marketing services and PR.
“The modern, straightforward design ensures the tractors are ideally suited to a range of operations on livestock, dairy, and mixed farms.
"As well as making ideal loader tractors, the MF 5700 Series also deliver high performance with ease of operation for a wide range of fieldwork as well as transport applications.”
One of the boosts of the 5700 Series is that it is equipped with the largest cab in the sector.
Both of the tractors are powered by the latest 4.4-litre, four-cylinder AGCO Power engine, which meets the strict Stage IV/Tier 4 Final emission regulations using the latest All In One emission system.
Massey Ferguson has also used the latest engineering technology it has available to develop a completely new 12x12 gearbox specifically for this new range.
Directional changes are made effortlessly using a standard left-hand mechanical shuttle, with modern hydraulic activation.
The back axle is well proven in use, being previously used on the MF 5600 Series, and is equipped with inboard reduction units and oil-immersed brakes.
A two-speed 540/540E rpm is fitted as standard, with control by a modern independent PTO clutch, while electro-hydraulic operation ‘eases’ the engagement and protects the driveline.
A new hydraulic system, developed specifically for the Global tractor range, supplies the flow and power required to operate modern implements.
The rugged three-point linkage’s maximum lift capacity of 4,300kg enables the series to handle these new implements.
Panoramic cab receives design award
Claas featured among the winners of the internationally renowned iF Design Award in 2016.
The Arion 400 tractor with panoramic cab won the “automobiles, vehicles, bikes” category.
The competition featured more than 5,000 submissions from 53 countries. The products are assessed based on clear criteria in terms of design quality, processing, and functionality.
The completely new panoramic cab design on the Arion 400 had already won the SIMA Innovation Award in Gold 2015.
Industry designer Paul Budde from Münster, Germany, has worked with Claas for over 30 years.
The 2.41 sq m, one-piece windscreen, consisting of the windscreen itself and a glass roof, connected without a crossbeam, was the main challenge when designing the tractor, according to Budde.
“Much like the striking engine bonnet, the new cab design is the only one of its kind on the market. The one-piece windscreen blends seamlessly into the roof area, providing the driver with an unrestricted view of the front loader at all times.
“All of the controls are geared towards the needs of the driver in a logical arrangement from a technical and functional point of view.
"The Arion 400 is a universal tractor with an interior and exterior design that reflect a high-quality machine with a reliable and comfortable workspace.”
Optum CVX awarded again
The Case IH Optum CVX has been awarded yet another award. It started with the title of Machine of the Year 2016 in the L category at Agritechnica last November; then added a pair of technical innovation awards at the Fieragricola show in Verona, Italy. Now it has received the Technical Innovation Award at FIMA.
The high-performance engine brake on the new Optum CVX tractor received the 2016 Technical Innovation prize awarded by the International Agricultural Machinery Fair (FIMA).
The award recognises the best technical innovations in the agriculture industry geared towards increasing productivity, occupational safety, and reducing environmental impact.

"Receiving several awards in a row for the new Optum CVX tractor demonstrates that our efforts in innovation are positively assessed by specialists who are well aware of the challenges, trends and developments in agricultural engineering”, says Antonio Ruiz, Case IH Spain.
The new engine brake system on the tractor is designed to act on the engine cooling fan too, significantly increasing braking performance. The procedure means that, by involving the fan, braking power was increased by 40%.
The engine brake is a component that reduces wear and tear on the tractor’s brakes.
In addition, when the engine brake is applied the engines do not inject any fuel.
The enhancement introduced by Case IH maintains all the advantages of the engine brake, increasing the braking power in comparison to the other systems.
Zetor step up direct sales in Ireland
Irish Zetor distributor McHale Plant Sales has announced that it is to increase its involvement in selling directly to farmers.
It is developing a main retail sales service through its base at Birdhill, Co. Tipperary, and at its new east coast location on the Greenogue Industrial Estate, Rathcoole.
The plan is to continue to work in parallel with what managing director Michael McHale calls a “slimmed-down” main dealer network.
According to McHale “our retail sales activities will operate alongside, and complement, the work being done by our network of independent dealers, all of whom will continue to represent Zetor as before”.
“In addition, it will enable us to provide sales coverage in those open areas where no Zetor dealers existed previously,” he said.
McHale also spoke about the future design direction of the Czech Republic manufactorer.
He said: “Zetor’s move towards greater styling and design with their engagement of legendary Italian car stylists Pininfarina to create modern designs that will be seen on future models.”
