Renua promises volatility fund and land lease supports
The new political party cited support for an income stability tool along the lines proposed last week by ICOS.
It also promised to introduce a new bond scheme to enable investment in land.
Renua agriculture spokesman, Boherbue dairy farmer Jason Fitzgerald in the Cork North West constituency, is also a founder of Irish Farmers with Designated Lands, a group seeking fair compensation for severe EU restrictions on the use of their lands designated as protected habitats for certain bird species such as the hen harrier.
The IFDL says it supports the protection of wildlife, but insists that farmers should not carry the entire burden of the costs.
Renua is also vowing to create better opportunities and support for long-term land-leasing. It promises to lead the effort to re-establish a “green friendly” beet industry.
And it promises action against producer monopolies in industries such as beef.
