ICA news: Busy Clare guild members get the new year off to flying start
The guild held their Christmas party in Nuala’s, Tuamgraney, which featured on RTÉ’s At Your Service in late January on RTÉ1.
Tonight, the guild welcomes Joe Downey, Clare crime prevention officer, and Garda Sergeant Joe Fallon as guests — Scariff ICA is concerned with neighbourhood safety and how they can increase this.
Feakle Guild held a culinary evening with chef TJ McGuinness and his team, while Fergus ICA has had safe spring cleaning in mind, with two members demonstrating non-toxic home cleaning tips.
They used bread soda, lemon and vinegar and, says a spokesperson, it was an eye-opener to see the results achieved using just these basic ingredients.
Meanwhile, all roads lead to the Woodstock Hotel, Ennis, next Friday, February 26, for Clare Federation’s fashion show.
National ICA president Marie O’Toole, national secretary Shirley Power and national treasurer Mary McNamara will all attend.
Ladies from all Clare guilds have volunteered to grace the catwalk, while event coordinator Tess Purcell of Coast Model Management will also supply models.
Guilds will have an opportunity to display what ICA means to them, with each given a large dinner plate, 13 inches diameter, on which to do so.
These plates will be set up at a special ICA table. There will be plenty of chances to win prizes — a raffle, a draw for door tickets (prize of a weekend away); and the best-dressed lady will also be suitably recognised!
Shops supplying clothes for the show include Annette’s Boutique, Binsín Luachra, Blarney Woollen Mills, Brass Boutique, Chantilly Lace Boutique, Cornucopia, County Boutique, Design Lodge, G-Nine, Joanne’s Fashion House, Pamela Scott, PM Golf, Sash Boutique, Willow, Patrick Bourke Menswear and Ailish McIlroy Millinery.
A variety of pop-up shops will also feature: Giddygoats Crafts; Moulded Memories; Aloe Vera Products; Cozy Cottage; Patricia Carrig Shoes and Bags; The Health Connection; Sweetcart Occasions; Mary Uí Ruairc Jewellery and Sock Dolls; Atlantic Silks; Little Green Fingers and Chapel Lane.
A ticket-only event, tickets will not be available on the night.
Woodstock Hotel has a special overnight deal for €40 — book directly with hotel (065 6899800). The event is organised in support of Bushy Park Addiction Services, Ennis — director Margaret Nash will attend.
