This residential farm is 8km from Liscarroll village in the townland of Knockardfree. Liscarroll was once an important base of the powerful Geraldine/FitzGerald dynasty and the huge Hiberno-Norman fortress (Liscarroll Castle) that still dominates the village bears witness to this.

It was here that a defining battle took place in 1642 between the defending Irish confederates and a smaller force of English troops and Protestant militia.
