Dungarvan competition sees top teams in great debates

Four top-class teams competed on the night — two from Cork and two from Waterford.
Glanmire took on the team from Kilmacthomas, debating the motion that political opinion polls should be banned.
The Glanmire proposal, put forward by Karen Cashman, Jenny Murphy, Tanya O’Sullivan, and Bertie Cuffe, was defeated narrowly by four excellent speakers from Kilmacthomas.
Donoughmore Macra’s team, made up of Tom Carroll, Elaine O’Connell, Meig Collins, and James Healy, opposed Dungarvan Macra, on the topic the minimum wage should be replaced by the living wage, where Donoughmore defeated the motion.
The quarter final will take place in Templemore.
