When first mooted, Ennistymon ICA members thought knitting all the figures for a Christmas nativity scene would be plain sailing. After all, they’re experienced knitters.

But once they got going last autumn, it proved a lot more difficult than anticipated, and there were numerous minor glitches — how to make the figures stand upright, how to make the animals’ ears, tails and legs look natural, sewing on the eyes so the figures didn’t squint, how to knit a star and prevent it from flopping!

Each member took on the task of producing at least one figure.
