Milk sent to the facility must meet strict export regulations, and one of the directions going out to West Cork milk producers is to take all precautions to prevent the trichloromethane residue which can arise from interaction of milk with detergent and sterilising solvents (which contain active chlorine, used to clean milking and milk storage equipment).
