Agri Aware releases six new Common Agricultural Policy reform guides
The first video features Agri Aware chairman, Richard Moeran, on his organic farm in Co Cavan, where he raises turkeys for the Christmas market, as well as beef and oats.
He gives farmers and consumers an insight on how the enhanced organic farming scheme, available through the CAP after 2013, benefits farmers like him and consumers who buy organic food.
The video campaign will run from now until February, focusing on six different aspects of the CAP.
Mr Moeran says Irish farmers are custodians of the landscape, providing amenity value to the Irish population, in addition to playing a key role in attracting tourists to Ireland.
“CAP is good for farmers and consumers of all ages, from towns, cities and the countryside,” he said.
Agri Aware chief executive Dr Vanessa Woods said it is committed to communicating to farmers and consumers of all ages the importance of the CAP after 2013 in delivering a secure supply of quality, safe, traceable, sustainably produced and affordable food.
