Fast faecal test on the way for animal health

A Waterford company that is cutting the time to diagnose sick livestock has finished first out of 50 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the EU’s SmartAgriFood accelerator programme.
Fast faecal test on the way for animal health

The CF Pharma company’s Telenostics device is a veterinary medical device for immediate faecal bio-burden testing on the farm, with digitalised analysis, and instant reporting delivered through an app suitable for any smartphone.

The Telenostics device is in a price range that could make it viable for all farmers as a standard tool, and it is designed to be simple and quick to use.

The EU-funded Smart-AgriFood has €4m in funding for SMEs and web entrepreneurs to develop smart agriculture services and applications, using the FIWARE open cloud-based infrastructure.

The top selected performers such as CF Pharma will go on to test their products in the field and participate in intensive business development support and training to bring their product successfully to market.

The accelerator programme is supported by a host of innovation centres all across Europe, including five in Ireland.
