European Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan, Macra president Seán Finan, and CEJA president Alan Jagoe will discuss the theme ‘Inspiration for this generation; taking the next step’ from 2pm, following a series of farm visits.
“This theme was chosen with the hope of motivating young farmers to make the most of their agricultural careers,” said Mr Finan.
“The long-term outlook for Irish agriculture is very positive and the conference aims to encourage young farmers to take a leading role in the industry.”
The formal debates will be in Macroom. Sponsored by Co-op Superstores, the weekend’s events will be opened at 7.30pm on Friday by Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney in Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork, where the social events and competitions also take place.
The weekend features the Irish Farmer’s Journal Know Your Ag quiz, Bord Bia Stockjudging, and Club of the Year competitions.
The €15-€25 entry fee includes farm tours, lunch, entry into conference, and transport between the two host hotels.
