50-acre farm of high-quality land

There’s the famously rocky limestone that we know so well, but where there’s a rich covering of soil, the land can be of very high quality, with strong mineral content and great drainage.
Such is the case with a 138-acre residential holding for sale with McInerney Auctioneers in Gort, Co Galway.
The holding is about 7km north-east of Corofin in the townland of Aglish. It is being offered in three lots that straddle the R460 and is bounded on the southern side by the Ballyeighter loughs.
Overall, the farm consists of over 50 acres of high value lands, together with a variety of flat rock and scrub, the southernmost eight-acre section being essentially lake.
The estate sale is the former property of the late Paddy ‘the Crown’ O’Donoghue, says selling agent Austin McInerney.
“The house (three-bed bungalow with outbuildings and sheds) has to be sold with eight acres of natural boundary around it as lot 1,” says Austin.
“This is eight acres of high-quality multi-purpose farmland.”
Another 33 acres (lot 2) completes the picture of high-quality fertile land on the upper side of the public road, while below the road, there is a 97-acre tract of mixed rocky land that constitutes lot 3.
This latter portion does, however, contain about 20 acres of “good-quality farming land”, according to Austin.
Price expectation for the overall package is around €650,000.
