Quality land just west of Macroom in need of some TLC
The 46.25-acre non-residential holding will be sold in one lot but it comes in two distinct parts — approximately 25 acres of quality pasture and 20 acres of pasture that’s in need of work to bring it up to its maximum potential.
“We’re getting a lot of interest in this place already,” says Killian of the holding that’s located in the townland of Shanballyshane near the village of Kilnamartyra — a Gaeltacht zone associated with Europe’s only toy soldier factory. “I’d be expecting a good turn-out for the auction.
“A lot of the ground has been re-seeded over the last couple of years and the rest of it is rough grazing but it can all be brought back.”
There is a considerable amount of road frontage, with a public road running the length of its southern boundary and the farm is in the middle of what is traditionally a strong dairying area.
The holding comes without entitlements as it has been leased out over the last numbers of years, according to the agent. It’s about 10 minutes off the N22, 7km from Macroom and about 3km from Kilnamartyra.
The price expectation is in the region of €350,000 (€7,500/acre) for an auction that takes place on Wednesday, 30 September at the Castle Hotel in Macroom at 3pm.
