Broadband prize worth €250,000

There’s a €250,000 prize waiting for the community which can best turn its lack of high speed broadband to its advantage in the eircom Fibre to the Home (FTTH) competition.
Broadband prize worth €250,000

Communities have until September 15, 2015, to enter.

The prize represents eircom building out a high speed FTTH broadband network at no cost to the winning community.

Communities are invited to tell in their own words, song, video why they should be the destination for the next Fibre to the Home Trial, following Belcarra, Co Mayo, the small community where eircom deployed fast broadband to 150 homes, two national schools, and the local mart.

Residents and businesses now enjoy the economic, educational and social benefits of broadband speeds up to 1Gb/s.

Only areas in the amber band of the www.broadband.gov.ie map can enter the competition. These areas do not have fast broadband, and therefore rely on the National Broadband Plan.

The competition entry form is on the www.fibrerollout.ie  website.

The winner will be announced at the end of September.
