50,000 expected to flock to Cork Summer Show

Organisers of Cork Summer Show 2015 expect to attract more than 50,000 visitors to the 100-acre showgrounds site at Curraheen, Cork city, on June 20 and 21.

The two-day event will feature livestock shows, sheep shearing, showjumping, a vintage tractor rally, as well as artisan food markets, craft beer stalls, musical entertainment, a home and garden show, a petting farm and dog shows.

The exhibition area will be home to more than 1,700 animals including 700 horses, 120 sheep, 80 goats, 100 poultry and 400 cattle.

There will also be more than 300 dogs competing across nine categories in the pet and pedigree dog shows.

Ulster Bank has been confirmed as the show’s main sponsor, partnering with event organisers Munster Agricultural Society.

Ulster Bank regional director Tom Leahy, said: “Ireland’s farmers produce over €10bn-worth of food exports annually. We have close relationships throughout the food chain in Cork, including primary producers and small and medium-sized food firms. The Cork Summer Show allows us to highlight and build on those relationships.”
