With €52m in funds allocated for an anticipated 35,000 applicants, Mr Kent has called on Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney to clarify the shortfall in take-up. He has urged the minister to look at all options to ensure the full programme allocation is drawn down.

“We want an immediate assessment of the likely uptake of funds,” said Mr Kent. “Given that it looks like the full €52m may not be utilised, it is essential an immediate review of the scheme takes place with a view to putting in place contingency measures to ensure full use of funds.”
