Deadlines approaching for main direct supports
Teagasc advisers help 40,000 farmers to submit their applications for the scheme each year. To date, this year 31,412 online applications have been submitted. Farmers have until May 29, to apply.
Head of Teagasc advisory services Dermot McCarthy said advisers are on track to process the usual number of applications.
âWe would urge all those farmers who have not made contact with their adviser to do so immediately to arrange an appointment in advance of the May 29 deadline,â said Mr McCarthy. âApplications received after the May 29 deadline will incur penalties.â
Applications for the first tranche of the GLAS environmental scheme are due on May 22.
Meanwhile, May 29, is also the deadline for applications under the Young Farmer Scheme, and for applications under the so called âScottish Derogationâ which allows farmers who have never held entitlements to apply for some.
Beef farmers entering the new Beef Data Genomics Scheme must also apply by Friday of next week.
