More than 8,000 farmers have yet to submit applications for the Basic Payment Scheme, the most important source of direct support for Irish farmers.
Deadlines approaching for main direct supports

Teagasc advisers help 40,000 farmers to submit their applications for the scheme each year. To date, this year 31,412 online applications have been submitted. Farmers have until May 29, to apply.

Head of Teagasc advisory services Dermot McCarthy said advisers are on track to process the usual number of applications.
