Prizes for all sectors will be awarded at the All-Ireland final in September, to be judged by Macra na Feirme, sponsors FBD, and IFA with the help of current FBD Young Farmer of the Year, Seán O’Donnell.

FBD company secretary, Conor Gouldson, said: “This is a dynamic time for young farmers who are expanding to meet the increasing global demand for Irish produce. We expect to see the proof of this growth and development reflected in a record number of excellent applicants.”

A representative from each sector will be chosen in every county and they will benefit from a targeted regional technical day. There, they will develop their specific skills and compete against their counterparts from other counties.

The closing date for applications and nominations is May 29. Forms are available from Macra na Feirme, local IFA branches or FBD offices and for download on macra.ie, where online applications are also welcome.
