Tech: Kverneland press-baler delivers non-stop results in field trials

Kverneland’s non-stop combined press-baler has won a second award at the 2015 Sima show in Paris.

A silver medal winner for innovation, the Vicon FastBale has also been voted the winner of the Machine of the Year award in the balers category. The Machine of the Year selections are made by independent agricultural journalists representing European trade magazines.

The FastBale integrates a pre-chamber with a main chamber and a wrapper, to enable baling to continue non-stop. The machine forms the core of a bale in a pre-chamber, and adds material in the larger main chamber, to reach the maximum 1.25 metres diameter.

After binding, the bale is transferred to the film wrapping machine by gravity, where double rotary elements apply the film at high speed.

The sequence where the bale is bound and ejected is thus speeded up. The FastBale can be used in all types of green or dry material, in combined press-baler mode or in pressing mode alone. FastBale field evaluation and development in a range of crop conditions will continue throughout 2015, prior to full commercial availability.
