Anna May at 80th in Timoleague

National Ploughing Association Managing Director Anna May McHugh was a welcome guest at last Sunday’s Timoleague ploughing match in west Cork.

Unfortunately, it clashed with her local ploughing match at Ballylinan, Co Laois — but the ploughing supremo opted to travel south to attend the match which marked 80 years of the Timoleague Ploughing Association, whose members such as secretary John Sexton have been involved in the National Championships for decades.

Watched by a large attendance at Meelmane Farms, Barry O’Sullivan won the senior tractor event.
