Anna May at 80th in Timoleague
Unfortunately, it clashed with her local ploughing match at Ballylinan, Co Laois — but the ploughing supremo opted to travel south to attend the match which marked 80 years of the Timoleague Ploughing Association, whose members such as secretary John Sexton have been involved in the National Championships for decades.
Watched by a large attendance at Meelmane Farms, Barry O’Sullivan won the senior tractor event.
Other winners were Siobhan Hennessy in the farmerette section, Kieran Coakley in under-28; Aidan O’Donovan in under-21; Kevin O’Driscoll in intermediate; Kevin O’Riordan in three-furrow-standard; Ger Coakley in reversible open; Padraig Walsh in reversible standard; John O’Neill in vintage (hydraulic); John Wolfe in vintage (trailer); Leslie Wolfe in vintage (novice); Gordon Jennings in vintage (single-furrow); John O’Donovan in horse ploughing; and Michael O’Donovan in under-age horse ploughing.
Aidan Grace demonstrated loy ploughing.
West Cork ploughing continues on Sunday, February 15, at Cahermore, followed by the regional final at Kilmeen on Sunday, February 22.
