Beef prices are stable at the factories this week, with demand holding firm, despite a further increase in the supply of cattle on offer to the processors.

They have quoted unchanged prices for steers and heifers this week, while some have increased the prices being offered for the cows by a few cents/kg, for the heavier cows in particular.

The base price being quoted for steers is is unchanged at 415-420 cents/kg. Actual prices being paid are spread across the range fairly evenly, depending on local factors such as a processor’s necessity to get stock, and their availability.
