Dowling set to take the chair at Kerry Group

Michael Dowling has been appointed as chairman designate at Kerry Group to succeed Denis Buckley, who is retiring from the board at the end of the year.

Having been chairman of the group for the past 11 years and a director since 1986, Mr Buckley was appointed to the board in 1996 and chaired its audit committee from January 2000 until February 2013.

A director of a number of private companies, he is chair of the board of management of UCC/Teagasc Food Innovation Alliance and a visiting professor at NUI Cork.

Mr Dowling will step down from the audit committee at the end of the year. He will be succeeded in this role by Dr Hugh Brady. The board has co-opted Dr Karin Dorrepaal as non-executive director.
