Innovative parlour restriction

A restriction bar which prevents sideways cow movement in the milking parlour won the silver medal in the National Dairy Show Innovation Awards.
Innovative parlour restriction

Primarily used when the parlour isn’t full, it can be quickly attached beside the last cow, rather than use a rope. It locks into position when a cow puts pressure on it. Galvanised and adjustable to fit all parlours, it can be used on any part of the rump rail, attached easily from the parlour pit.

Made by Gentleman Agri Products of Ballyheigue, Co Kerry, it is recommended for restricting heifers.

It costs €130, or €220 for a fold-down version.

Developed by Billy Gentleman and his sons Frank and Trevor, it was tested on the farm of Patrick Gentleman, Billy’s brother.
