Farmer pressure on beef processors to increase cattle prices continues to intensify, but is being undermined by the strength of the cattle intake at factories.

Last week’s supply, at 35,736 head, was the highest weekly intake at factories since September 2011.

Just when farmers hoped the peak supply for the year had been and gone, the supply climbed further.
