Fintan Phelan, head of the Teagasc Farm Management and Rural Development Knowledge Transfer Department, said the pro-farming tax measures show that the budget took on board the views in the Agri-Taxation Review Group’s report, to which Teagasc was a core contributor.

Teagasc and farmer groups alike welcomed the Government’s decision to implement a 50% increase in threshholds for land leasing. They welcomed the removal of the 40-year age limit, allowing non-connected companies as an eligible lessee and removal of stamp duty for long term leases.
