Pig industry biosecurity warning amid swine fever outbreaks abroad

All those involved in the pig industry are being urged to pay particular attention to biosecurity arrangements at farm, transport and processing levels.

The advice from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine follows recent outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in pigs in Eastern Europe.

ASF is a viral infection that causes serious disease and very high mortality in pigs and wild boar.
