Dairy AI usage not increasing as it should
In recent years, there is a significant decrease in fertiliser and lime use and this will seriously affect grassland production.
Dairy AI usage is not increasing as it should be; this must change if we are to ensure that all our farmers have the best possible quality dairy stock for the future.
With the end of milk quotas, top quality dairy stock and management will be more important than ever.
When the pressure of routine work eases off, be sure to arrange a family break or holiday (successful dairy place great importance on adequate social and leisure activities, and are generally very involved in community activities.)
However, there is always work to do; priorities are to provide adequate winter feed and high quality grazing.
Ask yourself have you facilities and management techniques in place to minimise losses in difficult situations and optimise performance in good seasons.
Examine facilities such as roadways, paddocks, housing, milking and drafting facilities, identify pastures to be reseeded, and ensure good animal health.
