IFA warns Government against extending property tax to farms

The warning was issued yesterday after reports that the European Commission had suggested that property tax should be extended to cover more assets such as farmland, development land, and derelict sites.

IFA president Eddie Downey met with Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney and told him a property tax on farmland was totally unacceptable and an unaffordable imposition on farm businesses.
