Livestock exhibitors have until the end of next week to get involved in the new-look Cork Summer Show.
Deadline fast approaching for Cork Summer Show exhibitors

Friday, June 6 is the closing date for showing class entries of horses, sheep, goats, poultry, and cattle. The show also features a display of rare breeds, pony club games, carriage driving and an international farrier competition.

Livestock exhibitors at Cork are continuing a tradition of more than 160 years of involvement in the Munster Agricultural Society’s activities, which are now taking a new shape as the society continues to settle in at its new headquarters in Curraheen, just six miles west of the Cork city centre.

Livestock showing continues, with cattle, sheep and poultry on Saturday, June 14, and horses, goats, and pet dogs on Sunday, June 15. But on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night, the showgrounds will be transformed to a music festival venue, featuring big acts from Paddy Casey to Ham Sandwich and Jack L.

Along with music fans at the Experience Fest, foodies are in for a treat, with the Cork Food Fest 2014 also running alongside the Cork Summer Show, offering a taste of what Ireland’s food capital has to offer from the 500-plus food companies which make Cork home to Ireland’s largest cluster of food businesses. The Night Market on Friday from 3pm until 9pm and the Village Country Market on Saturday and Sunday are features of the Cork Food Fest.

Some of the raw material for Cork food will feature in the traditional Cork Summer Show livestock section, which include the Holstein Friesian Premier Cow Champion and All-Ireland Pedigree Beef Heifer Calf Championship.

Online livestock entries to the Cork Summer Show close on Friday. See www.corksummershow.com for details.
