Coillte has pledged to reinvest in Gougane Barra Forest Park, Co Cork, where Japanese Larch trees were infected earlier this year.

Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney told Richard Boyd Barrett TD, in a written reply to a Dáil question that control measures were implemented to prevent the further spread of the phytophthora ramorum infection.

Mr Coveney replied that felling the infected trees was the appropriate measure with the aim of preventing further spread by limiting spore production.
