Tenfold dividend promised from world sheep shearing staging
Competitors from China, USA, Russia and more than 30 other visiting nations will attend the event’s 25-acre site in Gorey, Co Wexford, from May 17 to May 25.
George Graham, the event’s host chairman and vice-chair of Golden Shears World Council, said: “The Sheep Shearing Championships are proof positive of both Ireland’s ability to compete on the world sporting stage and host events of international agricultural importance. The benefit to the national and local economy is 10-fold with the event building friendships and cementing commercial networks that will cross markets and miles for years to come.”
